OUR FOUNDER

Walter Chung, was born on October 27, 1934 in Kealakekua on Hawaii Island.  He spent most of his childhood on Lanai, returning to Hawaii Island to graduate from Hilo High School before entering the Marine Corp for six years.  After the service he returned to Hawaii Island and began working in the electrical trade in the early sixties working for several local companies.

It was always Walter's dream to open his own electrical contracting business so on June 1, 1977 he did just that with the blessing and opening of Walter's Electric, Inc. with the motto of "Where prices won't shock you" at the former Papaaloa library.

Walter was a successful businessman in his own right, working hard to provide for his family, always doing things his way and working his business as if there was no tomorrow.  He always taught those who were willing to listen and learn the electrical trade.

Despite a sometimes blustery personality, Walter truly wanted to, and did, help teach so many that crossed his path - workers, colleagues, friends and family to learn the trade and to be the best in whatever he could help them with.
